Here is the full story.

Well, sharing about the ponti made me remember one of my nephews who died while serving his ns in tekong.

The deceased had a weak heart, and could get frightened easily. Malay people termed this as lemah semangat. He also was gifted with the sight. So he could see things that our normal eyes couldn’t.

He had to perform guard duty and part of doing guard duty was this thing called prowling, where u had to walk from checkpoint to checkpoint. The story that was told by his partner was they had to pass by one big tree ( He didnt mention the tree type) and they smelled a sickly sweet stench of frangipani flowers. When they looked up they saw her sitting on the tree.

At this point, my nephew was rooted to the ground in fear, whereas his partner made a run for it. He only realised that my nephew was not with him later on. I’m not sure what happened afterwards but they found him unconcious under the tree. He had sufferred a heart attack.

He was unconcious for three days and he did not come out of the coma and passed away. RIP to him
