Earlier this year 2021, a case was reported in The American Journal of Emergency Medicine.
A 69 years-old man developed symptoms of COVID-19 and was tested positive after going for a check-up.
He was told to stayed in the hospital during his illness and for the next 10 days his condition worsen. Steroids and a ventilator was needed for him in hospital.
He was also in a facedown position to stimulate air flow. It was a technique that is able to help patients tested positive for covid-19.
Later during his stay in hospital, one of the nurse realised that the man was having a rare symptom called Priapism. Priapism is a symptom of an unintended election that last for hours which patients will feel painful.
It is a rare symptom that only people having blood disorders like sickle-cell anemia,leukemia and multiple myeloma will experience.
The staff in the hospital flip the man facing up during the election and tried to use ice pack to bring it down. When the method didn’t work, the doctor did an ultrasound on his oenis and saw that everything was working properly.
Doctor then did a standard procedure for patients with the symptoms which is to insert 2 needles into the penile shift to drain out the excess blood. After 30 minutes his erection was gone but the man lungs worsen and later died from the complications of COVID-19.
