M’SIAN GOVT BODY DEFINES THE WORD “SQUINTY” AS: “LIKE THE EYES OF CHINESE PEOPLE”

Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), the Malaysian government body that oversees the use of the Malay language in the country, released a “definition” for the word “sepet” (which is Malay for Quinty).

They defined “sepet” as: “slightly small eyes, like the eyes of Chinese people“.

The DBP also provided a definition on the word “Tambi”, defining it as a “word used to refer to a keling person, younger than us.”

Refused to apologize

DBP’s director-general, Abang Sallehuddin Abg Shokeran, said that the DBP will not apologize because the issue was linked to a past issue of the dictionary and that they didn’t intend to insult Indians.
