A man in Taiwan reportedly got married to the same woman 4 times and divorced 3 times all in the span of 5 weeks, just to get 32 days of paid marriage leave.
The man had applied for marriage leave after getting married on 6 April 2020, which his employer (a bank) approved.
The paid marriage leave of 8 days is apparently his full entitlement, according to Taiwan’s labour laws.
He then got divorced and married again during that period, just so he could request for another 8 days of paid marriage leave.
He did this numerous times, ending up with him marrying the same woman 4 times.
However, after his first application, the bank refused to approve his subsequent requests for marriage leave.
The man then complained against the bank for breaking Taiwan’s labour laws.
Tha Taipei City Labour Bureau then found that the bank was indeed guilty, noting that although what the guy was doing was “unethical in conduct”, he had done nothing wrong technically.
The bank ended up being fined NTD$20,000.
This guy… What a legend…
