MAN JAILED FOR SETTING HOTEL 81 ON FIRE AFTER DENIED ENTRY WITH VIET GIRL

34-year-old Lau Sheng Shiun and his friend Chua Wen Hao tried to check into Hotel 81 Violet located at 97 Lavender St with a Vietnamese girl. Lau was caught by the hotel’s staff as only two-person were allowed in the room.

After Lau was caught by the hotel staff and left through the back door of the hotel where there were crates of towels and he set fire to the towels due to frustration with a lit cigarette.

The incident happened on 12 September 2017, Lau is facing a jail term of up to 7 years.

A passerby saw the fire and alerted the hotel.

What happened before

Lau and Chua were enjoying at karaoke lounge and had drinks. At the lounge, they met a Vietnamese girl and left together before heading to Hotel 81. It is unclear what the trio is planning to do in the room. (Leave it to your imagination).

Lau appealing to his sentence

He said that he was “frustrated” after he was denied entry and claim that he was too drunk to remember about the incident.

Chua was fined S$2,500 as he tried to lie to the Police claiming that he did not know Lau and did not allow him to enter the room.
