A video was recently uploaded on the Facebook page SG Chinese Community which shows a HDB unit on fire at Lengkok Bahru.

A child attempt to play with fire after using a lighter to burn paper resulted in burning down his house house.
3 kittens were also killed in flames due to the child’s playfulness. The fire broke out at about 10pm (7th May) at a unit in Block 59 of Lengkok Bahru.
The female homeowner, Shanifa (31 years old), pointed out that her 6-year-old child used a lighter to burn paper, and unexpectedly caused a fire. She said that there were still 8 kittens in the house, but only 5 were rescued, and the other 3 were unfortunately killed in the flames.
She revealed that because the house was burnt down, her family of 11 had to temporarily live in a unit below which was arranged by the town council.
