With the deteriorating Covid-19 situation and their healthcare system collapsing, India is seeing a rise in cases of people turning to alternatives to fight Covid-19.
Cow dung.
Some believers in the state of Gujarat, India, have been going to “cow shelters” once a week, to cover their bodies in cow dung and urine, hoping that it will help to boost their immunity (or help them recover from) against Covid-19.
Based on the Hindu belief that cows are sacred, Hindus in India have been using cow dung in their prayer rituals, in the belief that it has properties linked to antiseptic and therapeutic capaqbilities.
Doctors in India are warning against this practice, as there are no scientific evidence to support doing so and it also risks spreading other diseases.
