A student from a local university thinks that have a local university certificate would guarantee a “better” job. However, the student ended up having to beg from a friend that graduated from a private university to get a job in a big company. But he/she was ignored by the impudent behaviour.
Full Story:
Recently I found out a friend (we used to be close) landed a job at one of the companies in FAANG, and given she came from a Private U (S**) I was even surprised so we kind of chatted on insta as I wanted to know more of what she does or like how she managed to even get in.
I mean compared to me (I graduated from NUS) and my peers, I really just can’t helped but to wonder how a private U student was able to get in, I’m sure many would too. So anyway long story short, I asked if she could refer me but she sort of indirectly rejected that idea.
I was thinking is it because I graduated from a school better than hers, she selfishly rejected helping me assuming I could find a job since I’m from a local U?? I don’t understand why is it so hard to just refer a friend to the same company, everybody wins no?
And I have been looking for a job ever since I graduated and I really wanted to get into FAANG having applied several times and failed. Why is it so hard to refer a friend in?
I mean we used to be close even though we stopped talking since going to different U to study. I just don’t get the selfish mentality of some people, but you know thanks for letting me know who are the true friends..
