A resident from Block 3 Teck Whye Lane smelled a foul stench from outside her home on 4 July.
The smell then got even stronger as the days passed, and she even noticed some drops of black liquid that smelled really bad outside her window.
She cleaned up the liquid but the stench remained.
She then noticed a basket hanging outside the window of an upstairs neighbour, where the smell and liquid had come from.
Thinking that the basket contained a dead baby, she made a report to the town council but the situation remained unchanged.
So she decided to call the police.
The police arrived and spoke to the upstairs neighbour, and realised that it contained salted fish and ginger.
He neighbour didn’t touch the salted fish as it didn’t belong to him, but to his former wife rather.
He then apologised and took down the basket.
