
An Indonesian maid in Singapore was caught on camera spitting into the food that was to be served to an old man at home.
The incident happened on 9 July.
The maid’s employer, Zheng, said that she has two elderly grandparents at home, so she hired the 30-year-old maid from Indonesia about 2 months ago.
Zheng said that he grandparents are about 90-years-old, with her grandfather suffering from dementia and grandmother, a stroke.
She said that the maid showed her “some attitude” and their relationship was somewhat frayed; the maid was not keen on doing housework.
On 9 July, at about 8am, Zheng checked the CCTV and saw that the maid had spat her saliva into a cup of cereal that she was about to serve to the old man.
The old man was behind her washing up at the sink, oblivious to what she had done to his food.
Zheng then confronted the maid to pour away the tainted food and make a new one, but the maid denied spitting into the cup.
She only admitted after she was showed the CCTV footage.
