
According to a Police media release, a 26-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of evasion of a roadblock.
The incident happened on 30 July 2021 at about 2.40 am, Clementi Police Division officers were executing a roadblock at Jurong Canal Drive towards Jurong East Avenue 1, and the driver of a car was ordered to halt for vehicular checks. The motorist reportedly did not come to a halt and raced away.
Officers from the Clementi Police Division confirmed the identity of the driver through ground inquiries and the use of pictures from closed-circuit television (CCTV) and police cameras. He was eventually arrested on the same day for fleeing a roadblock in less than 12 hours after the incident.
The man will be prosecuted for evading a roadblock under Section 26(2) of the Police Force Act, Chapter 235.
Anyone guilty of this crime faces a fine of not more than $5,000, a sentence of imprisonment of not more than 12 months, or both.
