A 45-year-old woman who was depressed threw a bunch of household items from the 12th floor of a block in Sin Ming.
She was depressed as both her husband and son are in jail and alone at home. Acting out of frustration she threw more than 10 heavy items down the block, the items include Audio systems, an iron pot and a computer.
Zaobao reported that a social worker working in the senior activity centre on the ground floor of an HDB went outside to check.
She saw the defendant living in a tall building throwing objects from the 12th floor and immediately called the police.
The prosecution stated that the defendant dropped large objects from her home, which could cause serious injuries. If the object hits another person, the consequences will be disastrous.
The prosecution also said that the defendant had a criminal record and had committed crimes in 2000 and 2008. These were factors that aggravated the penalty and required the judge to sentence her to 6 to 8 weeks.
