
Three men and three women, ages 33 to 66, are being investigated by the police for their alleged involvement in illicit gaming activities..
Officers from the Central Police Division conducted an operation at an office unit along Lavender Street on October 6, 2021, and discovered six people who were allegedly involved in gambling-related activities. Two males, ages 33 and 44, were arrested as part of the investigation for allegedly running the apartment as a common gambling house. The four other individuals, who range in age from 51 to 66, are being probed for gambling at a similar gaming establishment.
As case evidence, cash and gambling-related accessories were confiscated. The police investigation is still underway.
Penalties
Any person who has the care or management of, or in any way assists in the management of, a place kept or used as a common gaming house is guilty of an offence under the Common Gaming Houses Act and faces a fine of $5,000 to $50,000 and a term of imprisonment of not more than three years if convicted. Gambling at a common gaming establishment is penalized by a fine of not more than $5,000, or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or by both.
