A 53 y.o man who’s identity was not revealed to protect the 32 y.o female victim was fined $2,500 on Monday (Oct 11) for molesting her and repeated harassment through text messages in 2018.
He pleased guilty to a charge of outrage of modesty, with three other similar charges and two for harassment taken into consideration during his sentencing.
The incidents that happened
They first met on April 16, 2018 in their company’s headquarters when she was assigned a table beside him and employed as relationship manager.
He was her supervisor.
He touched her shoulders and her breasts over her clothes using his forearm that morning.
On May 8 2018, he texted her on Whatsapp with a picture of her heels and told her to “see this”, and said that “fetish on his end… hehe”.
On 20 May 2018, he pulled her hand and ran it up and down her arms several times.
She then told him that she was uncomfortable, but he still continued to behave inappropriately four days later at work when he poked her waist with his finger.
That was the final straw for her, and she told him that she will report him to which he said “Why, your father never touch you, ah?”
She replied him, “Which kind of father touches his child like that.”
He then apologised for his conduct but sent her another message on midnight of June 2, 2018 telling her “Hey gal… I can’t help but grin/laugh while bathing earlier.”
Possible penalties for molestation
Those convicted can be jailed for up to two years, fined, caned, or receive any combinations of the above punishments.
