Local actor Shrey Bhargava, who was at the heart of a racism saga when he called out the Ah Boys To Men production team for “casual racism” back in 2017, has called out Xiaxue for hypocrisy.
He wrote in a lengthy Facebook post, calling her out for condemning the “cancel culture” that she is facing, that she built her whole career “cancelling” others.
He wrote that Xiaxue, also known as Wendy Cheng, attempted to “cancel” him when he addressed the casual racism her faced during his auditions for the Ah Boys To Men movie back in 2017.
He questioned: “Was that not an attempt to cancel me even before I started?”
Bhargava probed: “Does it not matter then? Or maybe it’s easier to feel okay ‘cancelling’ minorities who raise their voice,” questioning her hypocrisy and double standards regarding the “cancel culture” when she vehemently used said culture to “cancel” him three years ago.
He also expressed displeasure and bemusement at the people who are defending her because of her years of “xenophobic, transphobic, islamophobic and fatphobic comments”.
Bhargava summed up by saying that he is “tired of all this” cancelling and hopes society can move forward.
