Veteran Mediacorp actor Brandon Wong, 50-years-old, won his first Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes award last night, after 27 years,
This is Wong’s first time winning the award in his career despite being nominated in the past, and he also won the Most Hated Villain award.
Speaking on stage after receiving his award, a visibly choked-up Wong was seen trying to deliver his thank-you speech as he fought back his tears.
He said (roughly translated):
“27 years, it hasn’t been easy. There are not many 27 years in a person’s lifetime. Some people sweep up all the awards in their first year and worry about what award they will win the following year.
I took baby steps and after 27 years, finally won my first award. I worry my second award will take another 27 years.
Every step along the way over the last 27 years have proven that I am a horse that can run a thousand miles.”
