Five men were jailed, fined and banned from driving after each pleading guilty in court yesterday (31 May) to a charge of racing each other at Lim Chu Kang Road on 1 December 2018.
Ian Goh Debao, 32, pleaded guilty to a charge of racing and a charge of dangerous driving.
His 4 fellow “racers”; Daniel Chua Wei Chuan, 28; Daniel Lee Jie, 28; Hubert Choo, 27 and Samuel Low Shi Li, 27, each pleaded guilty to one charge of racing.
They were all jailed for a week and banned from driving for 18 months, as well as a fine of $1,500; Goh received an addition fine of $2,500.
How they kena caught
The five men were planning to go prawning that night and agreed to meet at Lim Chu Kang Road.
They then saw an Audi driving to and fro along that stretch and they then decided to have a race among themselves.
They were careful to avoid the speed cameras.
They were caught by a Traffic Police officer patrolling the area.
