Singaporean director Jack Neo posted a celebratory video on his Facebook, sharing how his latest movie Ah Girls Go Army has made $1.15 million thus far at the box office.
He wrote in Mandarin: “Hello friends, our box office sales have exceeded the $1 million mark, and we have made $1.15 million so far. Thank you for your support from all of us behind the scenes, please continue to bring your family and friends to watch the movie!”
Ah Girls Go Army is the 5th installment of the Ah Boys To Men movie franchise, and it looks at what happens if women were to be called up to serve NS.
The movie tells the story of what happened when women are tasked to train and protect the country when the male population falls to a record low.
The first four Ah Boys To Men movie made over $26.8 million since being first released in November 2012, with breakout actors such as Tosh Rock and Wang Weiliang going on to become household names in the entertainment industry.
The latest Ah Girls Go Army movie is appearing to be the highest-grossing movie out of the 5 movies in the franchise so far and there seems to be a sequel planned for the first Ah Girls movie.
