
On 1 February 2021, police were notified of a loanshark harassment case at Jurong West Street 61. One of the residential units in the area had its door and gate splashed with paint. There was also a note left for the resident staying at that unit.
Police officers from Jurong Police Division did a thorough investigation through the police cameras and caught the man on 4 February 2021.
According to the police, “Under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition), the offence of loanshark harassment for first time offenders carries a fine of not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000, with mandatory imprisonment of up to five years and mandatory caning of up to six strokes. “
The police have also added that they would not tolerate any loanshark harassment happening in Singapore disturbing the peace and security.
