A 60-year-old man who cannot be named due to a gag order to protect the identity of the victim, pleaded guilty to one count of voyeurism and was jailed 18 weeks on 10 November.
He had tied a phone to his ankle using a rubber band so that he could film an upskirt video of a female colleague that he was infatuated with.
What happened?
The man would use one of his two phones and tie them to his ankle using a rubber band in such a way that the back camera of the phone would be facing his target.
The incidents happened between 7 February to 14 September 2020.
He would have the camera turned on and approach the victim, striking a conversation with her to distract her while placing his ankle under the woman’s skirt.
He would then watch the videos that he took at a later time, screenshotting the selected moments to pleasure himself.
He took 15 of such videos of the victim, filming her underwear and/or inner thighs.
He then deleted some of the clips because he knew what he was doing was wrong but he continued to film her.
The victim eventually made a police report on 24 September 2020 after realising something was wrong with the man’s behavior.
