The Public Hygiene Council (PHC) has started an initiative, where HDB estates won’t be swept for 1 day a month, starting next year (2022).

17 town councils have already taken part in the initiative, which went on trial yesterday, 25 April. (It will become a monthly affair from 2022 onwards.)
The idea is to show “how much litter there is and what it will be like if there was no one to sweep it all away.”
The PHC added that “residents will then be encouraged to volunteer picking up litter around their neighbourhoods, in small groups of eight.”
