
The woman that was alledged to have evaded the taxi fare and had assaulted the aged taxi uncle in his 70s has been arrested.
It was reported that she is 20 years of age and not only is she investigated for this incident, but it was also mentioned by the police:
“The woman is believed to be involved in prior cases of fare evasion,”
It was also caught in video that from a distance before and after boarding the defendant’s taxi, she was not wearing a mask which was recorded by the car camera.
The woman was arrested on Thursday at Kitchener Road and will be investigated for infringing safe distancing measures during this epidemic and the offences below:
For committing a rash act causing hurt, a person could be jailed for up to a year, fined up to S$5,000, or both.
For fare evasion, an individual could be fined up to S$1,000. If found to be a repeat offender, one could be fined up to S$2,000, jailed for up to six months, or both.
