ICA officers at Tuas checkpoint found 5,997 sachets of chewing tobacco hidden under the head of a Malaysia-registered prime mover after directing it for further checks on 3 August. The 39-year-old Malaysian driver had declared it as “empty cargo”. The case was referred to the Health Sciences Authority.

Our borders are our first line of defence in safeguarding Singapore’s security. The ICA will continue to conduct security checks on passengers and vehicles at the checkpoints to prevent attempts to smuggle in undesirable persons, drugs, weapons, explosives and other contrabands.
