The government of Netherlands said on 10 February that why are looking to lift most of their COvid restriction by the end of January, with their levels of infections having only a limited effect on their hospitalisation rates.
Ernst Kuipers, the Minister of Health of the Netherlands said in a letter to parliament that bars and restaurants in the Netherlands will be allowed to remain open until 1am from 18 February onwards.
They will also be dropping their social distancing measures in public areas by the end of January. However, visitors are will required to show that they have been vaccinated, recently recovered from Covid or present a negative Covid test/
Their latest measures would see theatres and sporting events being allowed to reopen at full capacity, with nightclubs and festivals possibly being allowed to resume operations if their visitors adhere to testing requirements.
The Omicron variant has seen infections rise in the Netherlands at record levels recently, but the number of patients in hospitals have remained unassuming.
Kuipers added that the Dutch government will be announcing their new policies next Tuesday, after being advised by their panel of experts.
