On June 22, an All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight carrying 104 passengers was forced to make an emergency landing in Nagoya, Japan, after experiencing a sudden loss of cabin pressure during its descent.
The Boeing 737-800, which was less than six years old, was operating flight NH372 from Nagasaki to Nagoya when the incident occurred. The plane took off from Nagasaki at 9:35 am and was expected to land in Nagoya just over an hour later. However, at around 10:30 am, the aircraft’s cabin pressure suddenly dropped, prompting the crew to initiate an emergency descent.At the time of the incident, the plane was cruising at an altitude of approximately 25,000 feet. The crew’s swift response helped to stabilize the situation, and the plane leveled out at around 9,800 feet. The aircraft made an emergency landing in Nagoya just 25 minutes later, at 11:00 am.The sudden loss of cabin pressure caused oxygen masks to deploy, and a total of 11 people on board reported feeling unwell. According to Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, seven passengers and four cabin crew members complained of ear pain and hearing difficulties.The incident has been classified as a serious incident by Japan’s transport ministry, and an investigation is currently underway by the Japan Transport Safety Board. ANA has apologized for the concern and inconvenience caused to passengers and has pledged to fully cooperate with the investigation.The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of aviation safety and the need for airlines and regulatory bodies to remain vigilant in ensuring the well-being of passengers and crew.
