TikTok user Joan Chen (@joanchen_) shared on her TikTok account that she was followed by a man after getting off the MRT on 24 February.
She described the man as being Caucasian or Turkish, and that he was repeatedly trying to talk to her and following her after she alighted from the train and left the MRT station, even though it didn’t seem like he lived in the area.
She said that she was traumatised by the experienced and wanted to warn other girls not to speak to him if they chance upon him.
She said that the incident took place on 24 February at about 10.30pm, after she got off the MRT on the red-coloured North-South Line, when the man started following her.
She was yawning at the time, and the man then started a conversation with her by asking if she was tired, which confused Chen but she started talking to him, thinking that it was just harmless small talk.
She added that she was on her way home at the time and was on the escalator inside the MRT station, and the man continued talking to her and asked her where she lives and works.
Chen then told him where she worked and when she asked him the same question, he just answered very vaguely that he works at his company.
Reaching the bottom of the escalator, the man asked if they could remain in touch and asked for her number, and Chen then told him she had a boyfriend, in an attempt to put him off.
But the man continued insisting and asked her to “try”, saying that she wasn’t married yet, but Chen didn’t know what the man meant by “try”.
She then tapped out of the gantry but the man continued following her, and Chen then called her friend for help, telling her to wait for her at a bus stop.
She then turned around and saw that the man was returning to the MRT station, and that was when it dawned on her that the man didn’t live anywhere in the area.
Still feeling traumatised, she sat at a playground nearby and filmed the TikTok video because she wanted to make sure that the man wouldn’t know where she lived if he was still following her.
