“Seeking Help To Identify This Lady Who Physically Attacked My Dad.
My Dad who is a taxi driver in his 70s encountered this unfortunate incident earlier today (15 Jul 2020) during his shift. Friends and families know him as gentle and honest character, but his kindness got taken advantage of today.
This lady (in image), seemingly in her late 20s boarded the cab at 11:25am, along AMK Ave 10 beside Block 417, not wearing a mask. At 11:26am, she asked to borrow my dad’s mobile to make a call. My dad kindly asked if she’s making a local call, and then lent her the phone. Throughout the 17 minutes journey, she made numerous calls (verified later on in my dad’s mobile’s call history) and refused to return the phone despite repeated requests from my dad. At around 11:36am, she had a heated argument over the call (audio recorded in dash cam), where my dad asked her again to return the mobile, but to no avail.
11:42am arrived at destination at Prinsep Street. The lady finally returned the mobile. She told my dad “wait here” without explanation, even though my dad requested for payment for the trip, and continued to alight without paying and went on her way. Considering the preceding behaviour, my dad found it suspicious and followed the lady from a distance. 20 seconds later, she turned around and swung her arm at my dad (video recorded on dash cam). My dad followed on and shortly after, she attacked again, this time using a pizza board (in picture) that she picked up from one of the restaurants. Dad was fortunate to block using his arm, but the force broke his watch.
11:45am she walked back towards the taxi, still without a mask, grabbed the NETS machine, and flung it towards my dad. Machine was “saved” by the cord, but was still damaged.
Police came at 12pm, but the lady has long left the scene.
These rude and abusive actions were really unnecessary and uncalled for.
A police report has been filed. We appeal to eye witnesses to step forward.”
