The difference being that the former deed makes her feel good while the latter deed makes her look good. The main cause is not about favoring the rich and frowning/having power upon/over the poor.
This society has too many self-centered individuals who live their world revolving around themselves and are overly concerned with how the world views them. While being rich definitely could be one of the causes of an individual growth in the feeling of self-importance (and losing sight of the world), we also have our cases of the rich giving back to society and remaining humble.
Personally, i think that it all boils down to the education, upbringing, life experiences (work and friends) and personal values.
