ARMED ROBBERY AT BUKIT BATOK STREET 31, 30 Y.O ARRESTED

According to the Police a 30-year-old man was arrested after an armed robbery occurred along Bukit Batok Street 31.

The incident happened yesterday (July 8) at around 7.13 PM, investigations revealed that the suspect robbed a money lender by passing a note stating:

“DONT PANIC. DONT SHOUT, THIS IS A ROBBERY FILL UP THE BAG WITH MONEY YOU HAVE 2MINS OR ELSE!!!”

The man committed the robbery alone and ran off with SGD$22,000

“The suspect had also allegedly indicated that he had a knife with him in his bag, The victim complied with the suspect’s instructions and handed over to him cash amounting to about S$22,000. The suspect subsequently fled the scene with the money.” said the police.

It is believed that the robbery is planned as the man has taken an effort to conceal his identity by covering his face. After the man leaves the shop, the police received a call and the man was arrested within the next 11 hours.

The Police said: Cash amounting to about S$18,506, two handwritten notes and a bag was also recovered following the arrest

The Police are currently investigating in the incident.

If the man is convicted of armed robbery he can face up to 14 years jail and a minimum of 12 strokes of the rotan.
