ARMED ROBBERY AT TAMPINES, 1 MAN SLASHED WITH PENKNIFE

According to the Police media release, two men have been arrested after an armed robbery incident.

The Police said that a 23-year-old and a 50-year-old were arrested for their suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery with hurt.

When and Where?

The incident happened on Sunday (Jan 9), the police received reports that a convenient store(Blue Dot Minimart) located along Tampines Street 71 was robbed. Police officers from Bedok Police Division were able to unveil the identities of the suspects after reviewing Police CCTV and subsequently placed both men under arrest.

The 23-year-old suspect is Mohamad Azim allegedly slashed the left knuckle of a 78-year-old man before making off with the victim’s belongings.

The following items were allegedly robbed

  • wallet – IC, EZlink, ATM Card
  • $23 of cash
  • 1 Huawei Phone (worth around $200)

The 23-year-old man was charged in court yesterday (Jan 11) with one count of armed robbery with hurt.

Investigations against the 50-year-old man are ongoing.

If Azim is convicted of armed robbery with hurt, under Section 394 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code 1871, he will receive not less than five years and not more than 20 years of jail and canning not less than 12 strokes.
