ARREST WARRANT ISSUED FOR MAN WHO FAILED TO ATTEND COURT

According to a media release, an arrest warrant was issued for a 25-year-old man after he failed to attend court for his violation of the COVID-19 regulation. The man has left the country and failed to return to Singapore for his court hearing.

The man is set to face a total of 7 charges under the Infectious Diseases Act and the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations.

His charges:

  • 1 count of leaving home without a valid reason
  • 2 counts of not wearing a mask while outside of his residences
  • 4 counts of exposing others to the risk of infection when he knew or suspected he was a case

The man is supposed to be charged alongside a 25-year-old Malaysian woman. She was accused of allowing the man into her unit on two occasions during the circuit breaker period. She has also met another person outside of her household to pass the person birthday gift.

During the hearing, the woman expressed her intention to plead guilty. She will return to court on the 24 Sep 2020 to plead guilty to her charges. For breaching the COVID-19 regulation, she could face a jail term up to 6 months, fined up to $10,000 or both.
