AUNTIE KIAO KAH INSIDE SBS BUS, REFUSE TO PUT DOWN LEG FROM GRAB POLE – DRIVER CALLS POLICE

An auntie in Singapore was seen in a video that emerged online, resting her feet on the grab pole inside an SBS bus, before engaging in a heated argument with the bus driver over it.

What happened?

In the video, the woman was seen putting her feet up on the grab poles of the bus. She didn’t stop there; she even took off her shoes and rested her feet on it.

She then pulled down the visor on her hat to cover her face, and napped away without a care in the world.

The Bus Captain’s Intervention

But, as you might expect, such behavior is not without consequences. The bus captain then approached her to ask her to put her feet down.

Their heated exchange was captured by Tiktok user @bbshidah, who posted a video of the incident online.

She shared that the incident happened on bus service 99 towards Jurong Town Hall.

The bus driver was seen in the video pointing out a sticker on the bus that stated no resting of feet on the seats.

The woman then put her legs down, before later putting it back up.

The argument got heated and the driver had to call the police in the end, and all the other passengers had to alight from the bus and continue their commute on another bus as a result.

SBS Transit’s Stance

SBS Transit, the public transport operator in Singapore, expressed its view on the incident. They said, “SBS Transit encourages passengers to be gracious and considerate as this contributes towards making journeys pleasant on public transport. For this reason, we have posters promoting gracious and considerate behavior on board to encourage and remind them. We also conduct school talks and visits to our bus interchanges and MRT stations throughout the year to reiterate these messages.”

Bus Captains’ Training

SBS Transit also highlighted that their Bus Captains are trained in handling incidents on board. They follow Standard Operating Procedures, and when they are aware of or alerted to a situation, they will advise the passenger to stop the act immediately.

If the passenger refuses to cooperate, they will contact the Operations Control Centre to report the incident and seek guidance on the course of action to take. This process, unfortunately, can cause delays to the journeys of other passengers.
