Passengers aboard a typically serene MRT train experienced an unexpected disturbance when a confrontation unfolded over a reserved seat. The incident, captured and shared on TikTok by user Dina Lee on December 18, showcased a disagreement between two women over seating arrangements.
The Dispute Unfolds
In the video, two women engaged in a heated exchange over a seat located at the end of the carriage. The seated passenger, an elderly woman, had placed her bag on a neighboring seat, a practice colloquially known as “chope-ing.”
The video captures the elderly woman pointing repeatedly at the younger woman, who is standing, and expressing her intention to complain to the authorities.
The content of her complaint remains unclear in the video. In response, the younger woman confidently retorts, “Go complain, I am not scared.”
As the exchange escalates, the elderly woman raises her voice, displaying visible signs of frustration. She instructs the younger woman not to disturb her, emphasizing her desire to sit.
In a retort delivered in Malay, the younger woman defends her stance, stating, “I am not trying to disturb you; I just want to sit down. There are two seats here and it’s full over there.”
