Bangkok “Chickens” Cat Fished Customers With Photos Of Beautiful Models: Arrested

Bangkok Police Raid Resort in ‘Fake Ad’ Prostitution Bust

A police sting in Bangkok has led to the arrest of three Laotian women accused of running a deceptive online sex service, in what authorities described as a “classic bait-and-switch” operation. The raid took place at a resort in the Hathai Rat area after a disgruntled customer lodged a complaint over misleading adverts.

The Metropolitan Police Division 3 led the operation, acting under the command of Police Major General Siam Bunsom, with support from senior officers overseeing investigations and enforcement. Acting on the complaint, investigators uncovered an alleged network of women advertising sexual services through the social media platform X, using photos of other women to lure clients.

Officers said the adverts featured attractive models with suggestive captions and included a Line ID for booking. Once undercover police made contact, they received pricing details, body measurements, and a location for the encounter. The sting was set in motion when officers confirmed the venue was a resort in the Hathai Rat area.

Women Accused of Deceptive Prostitution Scheme

During the raid on 9 August, police arrested 27-year-olds Baitoey and Nan, along with 31-year-old Paeng, all Lao nationals. A search of their accommodation reportedly turned up six mobile phones, 60 condoms, and lubricant gel.

The women allegedly admitted to using misleading photos to attract clients, explaining that they would offer discounted rates once customers realised the person in the advert was not the one providing the service. Police believe this tactic often persuaded clients to proceed despite the misrepresentation.

Authorities say the suspects face charges under Section 7 of Thailand’s Prostitution Prevention and Suppression Act of 1996 for advertising or soliciting sex work through public channels. If found guilty, they could face between six months and two years in prison, fines ranging from 10,000 to 40,000 baht, or both.

Crackdown on Cyber-Enabled Sex Work in Bangkok

Police emphasised that this arrest is part of a broader crackdown on illegal prostitution and deceptive online practices in Bangkok. Law enforcement agencies have stepped up monitoring of social media platforms and messaging apps, warning that those involved in such activities will face strict legal action.

Authorities also urged the public to be cautious when engaging in any online transactions for services, highlighting the growing overlap between cybercrime and sex work. Investigations into similar operations are ongoing as police target both local and foreign nationals involved in Thailand’s illegal sex industry.
