On Tuesday 2 February 2021, Bedok bak chor mee and Kim’s Place Seafood and noodle restaurant have been charged for breaking COVID-19 safety measures. Measures broken include liquor consumption regulations and crowd control measures.
During September last year, Kim’s Place Seafood and Noodle Restaurant, 45 Joo Chiat Place was caught with customers exceeding the limit of 5 people per table, and allegedly allowed customers from different tables to move around. The restaurant was then caught the second time in the same month.
The famous Bedok Bar Chor Mee, 13 Circular Road, received 5 different charges in October last year. The shop was charged with not ensuring the limit of people within a group and safe distancing between each group. The stall also failed to provide SafeEntry measures for customers. Liquor could still be seen sold to customers after 10.30 pm.
Both companies will be going back to court on a later date. According to the government, Companies that break the COVID-19 rules will be facing a fine of up to s$10,000 or a jail term of 6 months.
