According to one of the netizens, the NEA enforcement officers appear in plain clothes and move around in pairs to issue tickets to unsuspecting smokers.

Netizens have been sharing photos of National Environment Agency (NEA) tickets penalizing them for smoking

One of the tickets shared by netizens showed that he was caught in a multi-storey carpark at Block 267 Punggol Field. The ticket reads:

“You have been charged with committing the following offence: You did smoke a lighted cigarette in a specified place, to wit, inside multi-storey and basement carparks contrary to section 3(2) of the Smoking (Prohibition In Certain Places) Act (Chapter 310.”

Another netizen shared that he was caught for smoking at a void deck near the lift lobby of Block 621, Yishun Ring Road.

The Smoking (Prohibition in Certain Places) Act is part of an effort to promote a smoke free lifestyle in Singapore. The Act has gradually been increasing the number of places where smoking is prohibited since it was introduced in 1970.
