He revealed that he was charged $650 for the damage and asked if he was overcharged, adding that “I thought it should be covered by insurance?”

He also added that his membership was tied to his credit card and BlueSG can directly bill him the amount.

Here is what he said

I met a small accident few weeks ago driving a bluesg car. There was no problem with the car but as it was my first time driving the new Opel model, I did not swerve fast enough and knocked onto a lorry and damaged the left front side mirror.

BlueSG charged me $650 for the damage. Did they overcharge me? Because I thought it should be covered by insurance.

There is no form of retaliation I can have as my membership is tied to my credit card and they can bill me immediately the amount.

  1. considered yourself lucky not claim under insurance excess. you probably will jaw drop for the smallest damage
  2. Should have gone to any workshop and fix first before reporting…it’ll only cost you a fraction of what they are asking
  3. $650 maybe not only for the actual damage.
The down time for the car to be sent for repair. The manpower, the admin fees etc are likely the main cost.
As you said it’s an accident. If you drive your own car and claim excess, likely it’s gonna be around $500 at least (if you do OD claim). So ya..
  4. See all those electrical ,wiring n electronics parts?
Modern side mirrors aren’t just old skool side mirrors like 20-30yrs ago which made up of only mirror n plastic.
Plus the losses for sending to workshop to get it repaired
  5. Replacing side mirror should not be so ex. Likely they billed you a lump sum. Anyway, you have to accept as you’re a customer whom have already agreed to all their terms and conditions. No way for you to oppose.
