BLUR SOTONG REVERSE INTO PARKING LOT WITH DOOR OPEN, BREAKS DOOR & INJURES HIMSELF

In an unfortunate incident, one person sustained injuries after accidentally reversing a GetGo car into a parking lot in Bukit Panjang with the driver-side door still open, breaking it in the process.

The incident, which occurred on December 16, has prompted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the mishap, according to TODAY.

Video Footage

A video published on the Facebook page Tiagong on December 17 showcased the aftermath of the incident. The footage revealed the damaged right front door of the Hyundai car, twisted at an acute angle.

The driver appeared to attempt reverse parking next to a car-park ramp. The car door collided with a low barrier marked with high visibility, resulting in visible damage to both the door and the barrier.

The video concluded with a man wearing a face mask seated on the ground next to the vehicle, appearing to be dazed. It was unclear from the footage whether he sustained injuries in the mishap. A woman was seen providing assistance to the seated man.

GetGo’s Response

GetGo confirmed that it was alerted to the incident by the involved driver, who contacted the company via its hotline.

According to GetGo, the user accidentally reversed the vehicle with the door open. The car-sharing service is actively collaborating with the user to provide the necessary support and resolve the incident, but the identity of the driver has not been disclosed.

Emergency Response

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call for assistance at Block 259A Bangkit Road around 12:20 pm on December 16. One person was subsequently taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. The extent of the injuries and the condition of the individual were not specified in the initial reports.

As the incident gains attention, an investigation is underway to determine the sequence of events leading to the reversal mishap.
