A 59-year-old male driver of a BMW was arrested on 21 April at about 11.15pm for suspected drink driving after hitting a Toyota, knocking down a lamppost and hitting the pavement along Jurong West Central 1, heading towards Boon Lay Avenue, according to Shin Min Daily News.
The BMW driver, along with the 50-year-old driver of the Toyota and the latter’s 60-year-old passenger, were all conveyed conscious to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the Singapore Police Force (SPF)
At the time of writing, police investigations into the incident are underway.
Shin Min Daily News reported that when they arrived at the scene, the totaled BMW was seen about 100 metres away from the Toyota that it had hit.
The Toyota was left stationary on the left side of the road near Block 688 Jurong West Central 1 with the front and back of the car severely damaged from the accident.
The alleged drunk driver of the BMW had purportedly hit the Toyota, before it lost control and knocked down a lamppost and ultimately ending up on the pavement, continuing on its “rampage” before crashing into a tree and stopping.
The airbag of the BMW was then activated after the crash, damaging the front of the BMW, and both cars were towed away from the scene at about 1 am yesterday.
A witness who saw what happened, told Shin Min that after crashing his car, the BMW driver got out of his vehicle and calmly called for an ambulance.
The passenger who was inside the Toyota that he hit, felt unwell after the collision and laid down on the road as passers-by tried to render aid to him.
A PHV sticker was also notably seen pasted on the window of the Toyota, indicating that the passenger of the Toyota might have been a PHV customer.
