The body of a 67-year-old man was found in a flat at Toa Payoh after a neighbour had detected a foul smell coming from the unit, according to Shin Min Daily News.
The body was discovered on 13 January after a neighbour had smelled a foul smell coming out of the unit, which was described as being like a rotting animal.
The deceased was an elderly man who lived alone in a rental flat on the 12th floor of Block 170, Toa Payoh Lorong 1.
The neighbour, an 82-year-old retire, said that he initially didn’t think much of the smell and only realised that something was wrong on 11 January.
He then informed a volunteer at the senior activity centre downstairs and on 13 January, the volunteer finally knocked on the deceased’s home.
There was no answer and the police were informed, and the body was later discovered.
