A 72-year-old man who lived alone, passed away inside his flat at Block 105 Towner Road, in Boon Keng.
His passing went unnoticed until a foul smell emerged from his flat, which was presumably emitted from his decomposing body.
His body was then discovered on 17 November in the morning after the police were called in.
The area was then cordoned off outside the deceased home.
Hoarded many items
The deceased’s home was filled with many items that he hoarded.
According to Shin Min Daily News, a stench could be smelled when the door was open, with incense being burned by the people at the scene who were clearing out the unit, to mask the foul smell.
The man had hoarded many items including things like sundries, wooden items, paper and etcetera.
Lived on his own
An unnamed neighbour said that the deceased live on his own and didn’t communicate with his neighbours, describing him as behaving strangely.
The man was claimed to have had his hoarded items cleaned out before following a mediation attempt.
He was also seen with his wife and children years ago, who have since left.
The police are currently investigating the death and have ruled out foul play.
