The defendant was James Teck Jing You, who was charged with causing a serious injury with a dangerous weapon.
It was believed that the attack took place as the victim refused to help the attacker to buy cigarettes as he was underaged.
The defendant will be remanded to the Academy of Mental Health for two weeks for a psychiatric assessment and will appear again on the 23rd of this month.
