BOSS DID NOT PROMOTE ME, THEN SUDDENLY STARTS TO MICROMANAGE ME

A few weeks ago, I lost out on my promotion. Did i handle the news well? Nope, i may not have reacted the best way, but it should of been understandable as to why i reacted the way when my promotion was taken away. I’ve been over it and moving on by applying to jobs now.

Boss attitude towards me also started to change

My boss saw that i didn’t react the best way, and ever since. She has been a petty boss and been nitpicking on every single task i do, corrects me for the smallest things and has been micro managing alot more than ever before.

She also showed clear signs in the office that she is ‘aiming’ me and gives me an attitude when talking, it just clear giveaway when you know someone doesn’t like you anymore.

I feel though as a boss, its not ethical, if i were a boss and i did not like an employee not based on their performance but behaviour, last thing i would do is make it obvious and especially in front of other colleagues.

Here are what netizens think

  • Only thing you can do is seek out a position with a different manager.

-You can’t force someone to like you, if they don’t like you it’s great to recognize it because it gives you time to position yourself for another role.

-This is one of those often overlooked topics about a persons career. You can’t flourish under a manager who doesn’t like you. IMO once you hit 3 to 4 years of experience your manager starts to become more important than many other factors simply because a good manager can do wonders for your career whereas a bad manager will neglect to give you opportunities to grow.
  • First you “didn’t react well” to not getting a promotion. Whatever that means, it’s clear that you were unprofessional in the way you handled it. There’s no excuse for that. We are adults and sometimes we don’t get what we want. It’s not a reason to lash out.

    – Your boss, upon seeing the way you reacted, likely needs to put some extra care and attention into monitoring your work to make sure you’re not bitter enough to start sabotaging the team. That’s likely their primary concern, and rightfully so.
