The suspect in the Boon Lay slashing case will be charged tomorrow (9th Oct). It is reported that he and the victim did not know each other.
This incident occurred at 12:40 noon yesterday. An 18-year-old youth was suspected of slashing the head and face of a 23-year-old youth with a knife at Boon Lay, and he was arrested after escaping from the scene.
Sources revealed that the two did not know each other, and the suspect somehow asked the victim to do something for him, but after the victim refused, he then proceeded to slash him.
The police issued a statement this afternoon that the 18-year-old who was arrested will be charged tomorrow with deliberately causing serious injuries with dangerous weapon.
The police will request the court to have him remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for a mental evaluation.
If convicted, he can be sentenced to life imprisonment, or imprisonment for up to 15 years.
