A bus captain, employed by transport operator SMRT, was captured on camera running a red light, sparking concern among the public and triggering a series of actions and responses.

In the heart of daily commutes, the incident raised eyebrows as it posed a threat to the safety of commuters and other road users.
Choa Chu Kang Drive became the stage for the alarming event, occurring during the evening rush hour on November 7.
The actions of the bus captain, as captured in a video shared on SG Road Vigilante – SGRV, showcased a concerning lapse in judgment.
The bus driver was seen blatantly beating a red light at a traffic junction, just as the other cars on the adjacent directions started moving off.
A pedestrian on a bicycle was also seen looking at the errant double decker bus in puzzlement as she cycled across the road.
Netizen lodged police report
The incident sparked a flurry of reactions on the Facebook post, with users expressing concern and disapproval of the bus captain’s behavior. One netizen even took a step further by lodging a police report.
The netizen commented on the video and said “I lodged a Traffic Police report. I hope everyone will start reporting things like this instead of just uploading. TP does not entertain taggers. Don’t waste your time tagging SPF or LTA.”


SMRT’s Reaction
In response to the mounting concerns, Mr. Vincent Gay, deputy managing director of SMRT Buses, said that they do not condone the driver’s actions and that safety of their commuters and other road users are their “top priority”.
He added that SMRT has since investigated the incident and taken disciplinary action against the bus captain.
