A Facebook user recently shared his bad experience when buying a car at The Grandstand (Turf Club Road).
Here is his experience during the incident,
“1. Car dealer, posted a listing of used car, Nissan Kicks on www.sgcarmart.com, with attractive selling price and a depreciation of $8,810 which is within my budget. “
“2. Contacted the sales person, Mr ***** on 11th January 2021 to confirm if the unit is still available and the answer is yes.“
“3. I went down to the shop immediately on the second day but was greeted by another sales personnel to show me the brand new car. He told me the used Nissan Kicks had been sold to another customer and pending loan approval so they are not able to sell me the used Nissan Kicks.“
“4. They proceed to ask me to get the new Nissan Kicks instead because the depreciation is lower than the used one. I requested to test drive but was given the reason that i need to make appointment with them. “
“5. The initial contacted Sales, Mr ***** came to me about 15 minutes after me and my friend viewed the car. He told me the same thing that the used Nissan Kicks was sold on that day (13th Jan 2021), and pending loan approval. “
“6. We went to their showroom/ office for further discussion. During the discussion, i have asked about the new car depreciation, and again they told me the new Nissan Kicks depreciation is lower than used Nissan Kicks but they did not write down/ show me the actual number so i was guessing it should not be more than $8,810 as per advertised by them on the used Nissan Kicks. “
7. “They offered me the new Nissan Kicks at $98,888.00 and this price is lower than what TanChong advertised in sgcarmart so i was attracted to it. They explained to me that they are special Nissan Dealer whereby they can sell lower than what TanChong can offer. I ended up proceed to pay a deposit of $700 seeing that they have been in business for long time so it should be safe to buy from them. “
“8. I asked them about 20% downpayment possibility and how they are able to do that. So they proceed to explain that they are using a third party agent to handle that but i would need to pay a sum of $700 as admin fee. “
“9. After signing the documents, i received sms from TanChong Sales personnel regarding the enquiry i have made the day before about the price of Nissan Kicks is $99,888, which is same as what HuaYang quoted me. Mr ***** and ***** say they don’t know about TanChong Promotion price. “
“10. Their reaction raised my alert. I went back to check their used car listing again and realised the photos shown inside their used Nissan Kicks listing are the new car that i viewed earlier on that day. “
11. “I went to TanChong motor on 13th January 2021 to enquire more about the car especially on the depreciation value of this car. Only then i realised the depreciation is approximately $9400 and not $8810 (or lower) as what Mr ***** told me. I further to investigate and realised that there isn’t any used Nissan Kicks. “
“My friend tried to sms the sales, Mr ***** pretending to enquire about the same car and he replied that the car is still available on 13th January 2021 (Which he told me it was sold on 12th January 2021). He knowingly and mis-present many information to me. I decided not to proceed the purchase from Hua Yang and requested a refund. Do take note that their photos in the used car session in Sgcarmart are all taken on their new car consigned by TanChong Motors so don’t get scammed by them. Boycott them!“
“However, i felt i have been scammed by the unprofessional sales tactics by the sales personnel therefore i proceed to make a report so the authorities can take action on such improper marketing/ sales tactics. “

“Meanwhile, i really hope i can get back my deposit of $700. In the end, i purchased the same car with TanChong Motor.“
“Boycott them and do not buy any car from them!“
“My friend also got scammed by them after buying a used car from them. The car suddenly turn off by itself on highway but HuaYang says not covered by warranty because it’s not major issue. HELLO the car stopped and lose control on highway still consider minor issue? “
“Just remember to avoid Huayang at all cost. Get from reputable car dealer like Vantage pre-own or credit autos. I checked around and realised this two are good and honest. If getting new car, get from some good PI as well. Just be careful. Hope I get back my deposit though… “
