CAR DRIVER RAN AWAY BEFORE TP COMES AFTER SERIOUS CRASH IN PUNGGOL

Police are searching for a driver who allegedly left the scene of an accident involving a car and a van in Punggol during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The collision, which occurred near Block 122A Edgedale Plains, left both vehicles badly damaged and resulted in two passengers being taken to hospital.

Footage circulating online showed the aftermath of the crash, with debris scattered across the road and visible damage to nearby surroundings.

Both Vehicles Sustained Significant Damage

Images and videos from the scene showed a black car with severe front-end damage. The vehicle appeared to have lost one of its headlights, while its front bumper was badly crumpled.

The driver’s door was seen left open, and fragments from the collision were strewn across the service road.

A Lalamove van involved in the accident was found mounted on a kerb some distance away. The rear section of the van had sustained visible damage, while its hazard lights remained activated following the collision.

A large piece of debris, believed to have broken off during the impact, was also spotted on a nearby grass verge.

The force of the crash appeared to have affected roadside vegetation as well, with a tree near the accident site showing signs of significant damage. Broken branches were scattered across the roadway.

Driver Allegedly Left Before Police Arrived

According to accounts shared online, three people were believed to have been inside the car at the time of the accident.

One individual was reportedly seen leaving the scene before emergency responders arrived.

In response to media queries, the Singapore Police Force said it was alerted to the accident at approximately 2.45am on July 8.

Police confirmed that the incident involved a car and a van and that the 44-year-old car driver had left the scene before officers arrived.

Authorities are currently conducting investigations and efforts to locate the driver are ongoing.

Two Passengers Taken to Hospital

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said two passengers from the car, aged 36 and 39, were conveyed to Changi General Hospital.

Both individuals were conscious when taken to hospital.

The van driver, a 30-year-old man, sustained minor injuries during the collision but declined medical treatment and was not taken to hospital.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are ongoing.

The case serves as a reminder that motorists involved in traffic accidents are required to remain at the scene and cooperate with authorities while investigations are carried out.
