The accident took place at approximately the 27.4km mark of the route heading towards Karak. Emergency services were alerted at about 4.47am, prompting a rapid deployment of rescue personnel to the scene.

According to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, officers arrived to find a severely damaged vehicle at the bottom of a gorge after it had veered off the roadway.

Four Men Trapped After Car Plunges Into Ravine

Preliminary findings suggest the car skidded or lost control before crashing through the roadside barrier and falling into the ravine. All four occupants — reportedly adult Malay men — were trapped inside the wreckage upon impact.

Firefighters worked in low-light conditions to extricate the victims from the crumpled vehicle. Rescue images released by the authorities showed personnel navigating steep terrain while conducting the operation.

Despite their efforts, one of the men was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. The remaining three sustained comparatively minor injuries and were rescued safely. One of the injured individuals was reportedly able to walk away from the crash site after being freed.

Police Investigating Cause Of Fatal Highway Crash

The case has since been handed over to the police for further investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Authorities will likely examine possible factors such as road conditions, driver fatigue, speed, and vehicle integrity.

Highway safety experts frequently remind motorists travelling along hilly routes such as the Kuala Lumpur–Karak corridor to exercise caution, particularly during pre-dawn hours when visibility is limited and road surfaces may be damp.

This latest tragedy underscores the risks associated with high-speed travel on winding stretches of road. Motorists are advised to ensure their vehicles are well maintained, remain alert at all times, and adjust speed according to weather and terrain conditions to prevent similar incidents.
