Two motorcyclists were taken to hospital after a car crashed into several stationary motorcycles at a junction in Sengkang late at night, according to reports circulating online.

The accident reportedly occurred at about 10.50pm along Sengkang East Avenue near the junction with Compassvale Road. Emergency services were alerted to the incident and arrived at the scene shortly after.

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), two men — a rider and his pillion passenger, both aged 21 — were taken conscious to Changi General Hospital for medical treatment. Two other individuals involved in the incident were assessed at the scene for minor injuries but declined to be sent to hospital.

Dashcam Footage Shows Sudden Impact

Dashcam footage shared online appears to show several motorcycles waiting at a traffic light while preparing to turn right at the junction. The riders were stationary as the right-turn signal remained red.

A car travelling in the right-most lane then approached the junction and crashed directly into two of the motorcycles waiting at the traffic light.

The impact caused one of the motorcycles to topple over, throwing its rider to the ground. After striking the bikes, the car appeared to swerve slightly to the left before eventually coming to a stop.

The video has since circulated widely on social media platforms, drawing strong reactions from viewers concerned about road safety and responsible driving.

Netizens Speculate On Possible Causes

Following the release of the footage, many online users began speculating about what may have caused the crash.

Some commenters suggested the driver might have been distracted, possibly by a mobile phone. Others questioned whether drink driving or fatigue could have played a role in the accident.

Several users also expressed concern about the vulnerability of motorcyclists on Singapore roads, noting that riders waiting at traffic lights are particularly exposed to vehicles approaching from behind.

At the time of writing, there has been no official confirmation regarding the cause of the accident.

Road Safety Concerns Raised Again

Incidents involving motorcycles continue to raise broader discussions about traffic safety in Singapore. Riders are generally more exposed compared to drivers in enclosed vehicles, meaning collisions can easily result in serious injury.

Road safety advocates often stress the importance of defensive driving, especially when approaching junctions where vehicles may be stationary.

Motorists are typically reminded to remain attentive at all times, maintain a safe stopping distance and avoid distractions while driving.

Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
