SCALPER RESELLS TIX FOR WHOLE SECTION OF COLDPLAY’S S’PORE CONCERT FOR $300K

0

Coldplay announced on 12 June that they would be performing at the Singapore National Stadium for 4 nights in January next year, before adding 2 more shows due to the overwhelming demand, and they sold out all six of their shows.

Following this, a scalper on Carousell posted a listing selling tickets for the entire Section 117 of the show, of 520 seats from rows A to Z, for $300,000.

He said that those who buy the tickets from him will be like having their own “VIP club”, and not have to worry about squeezing in with other fans coming to watch the show.

Here is what he said

Managed to buy the whole of section 117, rows A to Z, total 520 seats, like having your own VIP club liddat. Don’t need to worry about squeezing or queueing with strangers or getting jostled like sardines.

Confirm suitable for class or company gathering, can even bring your whole kampung along plus you can bring your ah ma, ah gong, ah boy, ah girl, ah everything! Shiok man, better than any enhanced experiences.

Eh, who else can say they chop chop attend concert whole section one ah? Price boh bian, can negotiate lah. Imagine bragging to your kakis, “Eh, you know what? I attended a concert as a whole section leh!” Confirm they jaw drop till like MRT gantry stuck one.

Only sell the whole section, cannot buy one-by-one, like power-buying in bulk, you know? So, if you want to impress your kaypoh relatives or show off to your siam-di-diam friends, this is your chance!

Don’t miss this once in a lifetime experience!

Clarified that listing was just “satire”

The Carouseller then added a disclaimer at the bottom of his listing, saying that “Unfortunately the above is a piece of satire and yes… section 117 dosent even exist. Hopefully it brought a good laugh to your day. On the contrary, I am actually looking to buy standing tickets preferably on the 23/26 Jan.”

POLICE INVESTIGATING HOUGANG KOPITIAM EVENT WHERE UNCLE 1 SHOT TAH 2 BEERS

A video previously emerged online showing an event taking place at a coffeeshop along Hougang where a man was seen drinking two bottles of beer at one go, as the crowd erupted into cheers.

The Singapore Police Force is reportedly investigating the event for violating certain regulations, according to Shin Min Daily News.

M’sian Getai singer

The Hougang coffee shop event took place on June 12 and quickly gained attention as the video of the performance went viral online.

Among the crowd of onlookers, a Malaysian getai singer, known by his stage name Weizong (黑人伟宗), stood out by chugging two bottles of beer simultaneously while delivering a live vocal performance.

He later received two $50 notes that were “pasted” onto his beer-soaked cheeks as he continued with his vocal performance, and at the end was given tissues to wipe himself off and received a red packet for his perfromance.

Weizong, a popular getai singer, was invited along with other performers to entertain the crowd during the coffee shop’s anniversary celebration.

Despite the entertainment value of the event, it came under scrutiny as it seemingly violated certain regulations and the police are conducting an investigation into the incident.

The person in charge of organizing the event, Mr. Lim, disclosed that the organizers had obtained a license to host the getai performance before the event took place.

Mr. Lim theorized that the high number of spectators present on that day might have prompted the authorities to intervene.

In an interview with Shin Min, Mr. Lim expressed his perspective, stating that they were probably reported to the authorities because there were too many people at the kopitiam that day, which affected other patrons who were dining at the time. However, it wasn’t possible for them to chase away the guests who came over to cheer for the performers.

GRAB RETRENCHES 1,000 WORKERS, CEO: “WE’RE NOT DOING THIS AS SHORTCUT TO PROFITABILITY”

0

In a recent announcement, Grab Holdings, Southeast Asia’s leading ride-hailing and food delivery app based in Singapore, revealed its decision to cut 1,000 jobs, which accounts for approximately 11% of its workforce.

Grab’s CEO, Anthony Tan, emphasized the need for change in response to the fast-paced evolution of technology, citing generative AI (artificial intelligence) as a prime example.

As technology progresses at a breakneck speed, the cost of capital has risen, directly impacting Grab’s competitive landscape. Tan views this workforce reduction as a strategic realignment that enables the company to adapt to the ever-changing business environment.

According to Tan, Grab aims to combine its scale with nimble execution and cost leadership to provide sustainable, affordable services and penetrate the masses more effectively.

In a screenshot circulating online of Tan’s letter sent to the employees, he said that Grab is not doing this as a “shortcut to profitability” and that they have been “consistent in managing costs tightly in all areas” over the years.

Following the announcement of the job cuts, Grab’s stock saw a premarket surge of 4.7%, with earlier gains reaching as high as 5.6% following a Bloomberg News report on the matter.

Additionally, Grab’s strong revenue growth is evident, with a 130.3% increase in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year. In February, the company provided an optimistic revenue forecast for 2023 and accelerated its timeline for achieving profitability.

Grab’s reduction in workforce is not an isolated incident in the Southeast Asian tech industry. Indonesian tech firm GoTo undertook a similar cost-cutting measure in 2022, laying off 12% of its employees.

In March of the same year, GoTo further downsized its workforce by 600. While GoTo’s incoming CEO plans to lead the company temporarily and depart after improving profitability, Grab’s strategic reorganization aligns with its long-term vision for sustained growth.

TOURIST GOT ROBBED OF $27.4K IN THAI HOTEL, MIRROR TURNED OUT TO BE HIDDEN DOOR

0

In a shocking incident in the central province of Kanchanaburi, Thailand, two families fell victim to a thief who targeted their belongings, resulting in a loss of nearly one million baht (or SGD$38,600) in cash and assets, according to a report by Thaiger.

The incident took place at a hotel where the victims had checked in, and their valuables vanished mysteriously. This article will delve into the details of the incident, the victims’ experience, and the subsequent actions taken.

On April 26 of this year, two families arrived at a hotel in Kanchanaburi for a brief getaway. Little did they know that their stay would turn into a nightmare.

The victims, identified as Asana “Por” Kaenkaew and his family, had traveled from the southern province of Songkhla to visit Por’s younger brother in Kanchanaburi.

Upon checking in, they settled into their room without any security concerns, given its proximity to the hotel’s security guard station and the bustling roadside.

The following morning, Por and his wife woke up to a shocking revelation. Their daughter, who would usually wake up during the night, had slept undisturbed.

It was then that they noticed their assets were missing. A gold necklace, gold ring, diamond ring, valuable amulets, and a significant amount of cash, totaling 710,000 baht (or SGD$27,383), had vanished without a trace.

Alarmed by their discovery, Por and his wife hurriedly searched their room and even checked their car, hoping they had misplaced their belongings.

To their dismay, they encountered another victim, Pinyo, staying in the adjacent room, who confirmed that his wallet and 7,000 baht in cash had also been stolen.

As Por and Pinyo joined forces to investigate further, they stumbled upon a startling revelation. Hidden within their rooms were secret doors that were cleverly disguised as mirrors from the inside but revealed their true nature when viewed from the outside.

These doors were equipped with locks on the outer side, suggesting a well-thought-out plan by the thief.

The victims expressed their dissatisfaction with the hotel management, accusing them of failing to disclose the existence of these secret doors during the check-in process.

However, the hotel owner provided a surprising explanation. He claimed that the secret doors were intentionally installed as escape routes for mistresses involved in illicit affairs, providing a controversial twist to the incident.

Frustrated with the lack of progress in their case, Por and his family decided to seek help from Thai media agencies on June 16.

They hoped that media exposure would put pressure on the authorities to investigate the matter more thoroughly and bring the culprits to justice.

Despite the media attention, the hotel management refused to take responsibility for the losses suffered by the victims. They argued that there was no concrete evidence to prove the existence of the stolen assets, attempting to shift the blame onto the victims themselves.

In response, Por highlighted that officers from the Mueang Kanchanaburi Police Station had visited the crime scene, collected evidence such as footprints and fingerprints left on the secret doors and air conditioning compressors, yet failed to provide any updates on the case, leaving the victims in a state of distress and uncertainty.

WOMAN HOLDS PLACARD OUTSIDE EX’S HOME & BEGS HIM TO TAKE HER BACK, “HUBBY I’M WRONG”

0

A woman in the Shandong province in eastern China went viral as she beseeched her ex-husband to remarry her. Holding a placard and enduring scorching temperatures, she stood outside his home for hours, desperately seeking and begging him to take her back, according to the South China Morning Post.

Despite her efforts, she received no reply, leaving her in a state of emotional distress.

The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, stood outside his residence for over six hours. The reason for their divorce remains ambiguous, but her remorse for the past was evident.

The scene was captured by a passerby named Zhu, the woman could be seen standing in a car park, clutching a small placard above her head while balancing a larger one with her lower body. She eventually knelt on the ground.

On the smaller placard, the woman had written, “Hubby, I am wrong”. The larger sign bore a plea for remarriage and a desire to provide their child with a complete and intact family.

Undeterred by the scorching sun, the woman resolutely called out her ex-husband’s name, using the small sign to gain his attention. She alternated between kneeling and shouting, imploring him to descend to the car park and engage in a heartfelt conversation.

However, her cries and gestures were met with silence, as her ex-husband did not respond.

Zhu, who stumbled upon the scene, pointed out the woman’s unwavering determination. Despite the challenging circumstances, she refused to leave, hoping for a glimmer of reconciliation.

Zhu’s interaction with a resident of the building shed light on the situation. It was revealed that the woman had endured the blistering heat for more than six hours.

News of the woman’s plea spread like wildfire across Chinese social media platforms. The video garnered an astounding 300,000 views and received over 7,292 comments. The public’s reactions were diverse, with some for and others against her actions.

While some expressed sympathy for the woman’s plight, others emphasized the difficulty she posed for her ex-husband. They questioned the effectiveness of her approach, suggesting that her relentless pursuit might further strain their relationship. Opinions were divided, with some individuals stating that they wouldn’t personally consider remarriage under such circumstances.

The woman’s desperate plea for reconciliation takes place against the backdrop of an increasing divorce rate in China. According to a report by BJ News in February, 1.64 million couples filed for divorce during the first three quarters of 2022, marking a 3.72 percent rise compared to the same period the previous year.

This statistic sheds light on the larger social issue at hand and prompts a deeper examination of the factors contributing to marital discord in the country.

In 2021, the provinces of Henan in central China, southwestern Sichuan, and Guangdong in the south reported the highest number of divorces nationwide. The reasons behind these divorces are multifaceted, influenced by factors such as changing societal norms, economic pressures, and evolving gender dynamics.

22 Y.O MAN EXPOSED HIS KKJ TO 11/12 Y.O GIRL & MOANED ON PHONE TO HER SISTER, JAILED

0

22-year-old Teo Jun How was sentenced to 15 months and 4 weeks imprisonment on Tuesday (20 June) for obscene offences against 7 girls after pleading guilty to 9 charges, with 4 of them under the Children and Young Persons Act and another 3 for indecent exposure, according to The Straits Times.

The judge had earlier called for a report to determine if he was suitable to be sentenced to probation but was deemed on Tuesday to be unsuitable due to his serious offences.

What happened?

The court heard that in 2018 or 2019, Teo had joined a Whatsapp chat group of a boyband that was created by the two sisters.

He then got the younger sister’s number (she was about 11 or 12 years old at the time) and they chatted normally at the start.

The girl then got annoyed with Teo for teasing her and blocked him on Whatsapp.

Teo then messaged her on Instagram a few months later and asked her to meet him, which she initially refused before eventually giving in after Teo persisted with his request.

Their first meeting went without incident, but on their second meeting a few days later where they went to watch a movie, Teo asked the girl to perform an explicit act on him.

The girl refused but Teo still unzipped his pants and exposed his private parts to her, and the victim then left the cinema angrily.

Teo then followed the girl and apologised, before offering to send her home in a taxi, but on the ride home, he tried to get the girl to touch him once again.

In October 2020, when the girl was 13 years old by then, Teo contacted the girl again and offered her $100 to send him explicit photos of herself, but was rejected.

He then offered her $150 to expose herself on video, to which the victim agreed, and the two then exposed themselves on a video call, with Teo secretly recording the video.

Teo then targeted the girl’s 15-year-old older sister on 17 January 2021 at about 3.30 pm, calling her and asking her if she wanted to be his friend.

She asked him who he was but he kept quiet, before moaning and making other explicit noises during the call.

The girl then ended the call and Teo then texted her and asked her if she wanted to see his genitals, which the girl ignored.

He then told her about his exchange with her sister and sent her a recording of the conversation that he had with her.

She then told her sister about it and they told their mother about Teo, and a police report was subsequently lodged against him.

Teo was arrested on 24 January 2021 at his residence, and police found a thumb drive with 502 explicit videos, including 354 videos that involved children.

Teo was out on bail when he joined a WhatsApp group for students form a girls’ school to talk about their school life which he found through a link on a social media page.

He then sent filthy messages to several of the girls whose number he had gotten from the chat group.

FATHER REFUSE TO PAY FOR DAUGHTER EDUCATION THEN CALL HER “USELESS”

0

My second uncle has been going on and on nonstop lately to the rest of our family about how disappointing his daughter (24F) is for not being “a real adult” and being a lot less successful than her friends.

My cousin has a group of friends his age, whose children his daughter grew up with, and their kids have all been close friends with his daughter forever.

My cousin strongly believes children shouldn’t receive any help from their parents in life once they turn 18 and parents have no responsibilities once their kids are legal, so he cut his daughter off on her 18th birthday and refused to pay for her school fees or anything, even though he had plenty of money for it.

She went to an average school and still lives with a rented HDB with friends after graduating, and she has an average job. She has no savings or investments since she’s paying off tens of thousands in student debt.

Meanwhile, all of her friends who she grew up with and had good parents who paid for their degree and helped them financially, and they’re all vastly more successful than his daughter.

They went to high-ranking schools since their parents were actually supportive financially, graduated debt-free, and they all have well-paying jobs now. They’re all living in nice condos without roommates and are starting to do “adult things” like putting down mortgages on homes.

Most of them have a lot of savings and investments already since they have no student debt.

My uncle is furious with his daughter since she’s in crippling debt and still has roommates, and he always hears from his friends about all the great things their kids are doing. He calls her his greatest disappointment and a failure, and they aren’t talking because they hate each other. He constantly whines about what a “useless child” he has.

I told him to just shut the f up already. If he wanted his daughter to be successful, he would’ve been a good parent and financially supported her.

He clearly wanted her to fail, so he can’t play victim now that she’s doing much worse in life than all his friend’s kids.

Editor Notes: Your uncle had the means to give his daughter a massive advantage in life. He chose not to. Now he’s comparing her to kids that did receive that advantage and is disappointed. Like dude you’re comparing apples to oranges here.

GIRL ASKS IF SHE SHOULD STOP DATING 1.7M TALL GUYS BECAUSE HE LOOKS SHORT

0

A netizen took to Facebook to share how she met a guy from the dating app, Tinder, and that he is charismatic, intelligent and “pretty buff”.

She said that he is 1.75m tall, above her expectation of 1.7m, but because he “appears” short due to his muscles, she is considering stopping dating him.

Here is the story:

“I’m not sure if I’m considered a superficial or realistic woman but there is something that has been bothering me ever since I started using dating apps.

I recently matched this guy on tinder. He doesn’t look tall or at least above average height but what caught my attention was his serious look, charismatic/distinctive look, his intelligence and he is pretty buff too.

After chatting with him for some time, I noticed that we have a lot in common and what’s more important is that he not only does pretty well in his field of expertise but he also has some side hustle that generates passive income.

So when we first met each other, he indeed doesn’t look tall, which I already expected but then when we were standing closer, I noticed that he is actually much taller than me (I’m 1.55m), like legit above 1.7m.

so I just casually asked him how tall he is, and he said he’s 1.75m. I was like wow, it’s unbelievable cos my expectation is just 1.7.

Cares about how others view him

For some reason, he really looks short from far. I’m not sure is it due to his muscular arms, huge upper body frame, and bulky legs. I mean who doesn’t want a muscular bf right, but as much as I enjoy being with a buff dude, I sometimes care about how others view him cos even I find him short.

We actually met up a few times. I’m not gonna lie, but he really looks short when he’s in shorts.

Should I continue dating him cos I really like a lot of his qualities and his height probably won’t matter much to me later in life, or should I stop wasting his time since he looks short but isn’t actually short?”

Editor’s note: I think you should stop dating him because you’re wasting his time and you don’t deserve him, or anyone.
